Happiness Chasing

Unhappiness is not knowing what we want and killing ourselves to get it.

“Unhappiness is not knowing what we want and killing ourselves to get it.”  ~Don Herold

I spend my professional life helping others figure out where they want to go and how to get there.  Of the people I’ve assisted, a small percentage of them actually stay on the strategic path they created.  Most become distracted and fall off course at some point due to a dysfunction I call “happiness chasing.”

People who do not have the ability to overcome chasing the short term good for the long term great show very little progress in their personal and professional lives.

Chasing happiness is like chasing the wind.  I enjoy being happy but I’ve lived long enough to know that true happiness is not found by chasing things. It is found by being comfortable in our own skin and being at peace in the moment.

**The cure to “happiness chasing” is knowing when to say no and knowing when to say no is found in the framework that supports your Yes…

  1. Why am here? (My Purpose)
  2. Where am I going?  (My Vision/Dream)
  3. What do I need to do to get there?  (My Mission)
  4. What do I stand for?  (My Guiding Principles)
  5. Who do I stand for?  (My Priorities)
