Daily focalPOINT – True Success

“Success usually comes to those who are too busy to be looking for it.”  ~Henry David Thoreau

The moment I began experiencing true success is when I quit chasing it and began to live a day at a time and at the end of each day took the time to reflect whether or not I had made a positive impact or not on the world and its contents.

True success is not about us and thus the reason for my signature quote to be placed on my tombstone when I travel to eternity:

“Anyone can be successful at the expense of others.  It takes a special type of person who becomes successful for the benefit of others.”

This quote gives me something to shoot for.

P.S.  True success is a process, it is not an event.  I can remember for years telling Lori that I wanted her to place the following quote on my tombstone: “Here lays one screwed up mess.”  You all will know where Lori and I were in our relationship when I leave this world based on the quote on my tombstone.  🙂

1 Peter 4:10, “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace.”  (ESV)
