Success is a choice

Every week I share a “Thought for the Week” on EagleLaunch. Most of the time this thought is more of a reminder to me than it is to others. It usually has something to do with what is going on in my life at the time I write it. After posting this week’s thought “Successful people view failure simply as setbacks and they view setbacks as experiences that ultimately add to the success of their journey,” it reminded me that it is our choice whether we succeed or fail. It is all in the way we view failure.

I can often tell the strength of one’s faith by observing their view of failure or setbacks. Those who live in “fear of failure” and waste time moaning and groaning about everything that goes wrong or could go wrong have little faith in God. God wants us to succeed he doesn’t want us to fail. What we view as failure, God views as a lesson on the road to success. (If you are a Christian and you “fail” alot, then maybe your definition of success does not align with God’s…that is a topic for another day.)

There is an evil force in the world that enjoys making us feel like failures. This evil force wants all of us, especially Christians, to accept failure. This evil force almost had me convinced that I was a failure many years ago due to my addiction. But for the grace of God and many people who helped pick me up, I can tell you God does not want us to fail and God beats evil every minute of every day if we ask him to.

Do you view setbacks as failure or failure as setbacks? If you struggle with the fear of failure, try surrendering all you do to God the first thing in the morning every day. Then if a setback occurs, your faith will be tested because if you really turned everything over to God, you will be able to accept the setback as just a setback and not a failure because you know and really believe“that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28.

Success truly is your choice.
