Soul Care

Take care of your body as if you will live forever; and take care of your soul as if you will die tomorrow.

— St. Augustine —

Augustine’s quote is quite thought provoking.

The older I get the more in-touch I become with the brevity of life. In a couple of weeks I turn 59. When I was immersed in my addiction many years ago, I thought I’d never see my 30’s.

Since I got my feet back under me, I’ve viewed each day as a blessing and although I work out and take care of my body so I can live to be 100, I prep my soul as if today will be my last.

How’s your soul?

Is it prepared in such a way that death on earth is nothing but a step in life eternal?

1 Corinthians 15:42-44, “So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.”
Heavenly Father, thank you for the gift of life but more importantly, thank you for the gift of eternal life through the death and resurrection of your Son. Help me take care of my soul so I may enter your eternal dwelling with peace, joy and confidence. Amen.
