Right Now

One of my favorite rock songs of all time is Right Now by Van Halen.  Great tune with an awesome keyboard opening and powerful lyrics.  One of the greatest causes of the death of dreams is procrastination and over-analyzation.  I learned a long time ago if you are going to do something then do it! That is what the Right Now lyrics keep saying over and over…“Tell me what are ya waitin for–turn this thing around…RIGHT NOW!”

God does not give us the unique trait of imagination if he didn’t intend for us to turn our visions and dreams into reality.  Please note that the evil one tries to get involved in our dreams and thus the reason it is critical to walk with the Lord as the Holy Spirit will assist in discerning God dreams from the opposition’s dreams.

Although procrastination is number one at preventing us from attaining our God dreams, there are many other “things” that get in the way of successfully acting upon on our God dreams, and three of them seem to be more prevalent than the rest.

The first is fear and like I’ve said many times in previous posts, fear is of the devil and if the devil can get us to NOT chase our God dreams, then he wins.  The best way to overcome fear is to put your faith in God and Godly people, and not other faces, places and spaces that are driven by fear.

The second involves motives.  Make sure whatever you dream and commit to doing is done to glorify God.  I have found it is not very fun to have a God Dream and then turn it into “My” Dream.  God gives us the ability to dream in order that we can make a difference in His world…it is not our world.  Turn your dream over to God on a daily basis and you will be amazed at what happens.  I’ve been a part of turning a corner drug store into a highly respected national company by giving it to God on a daily basis.  Watching this business evolve from a staff of four employees to two hundred employees in the corn fields of Covington, Ohio is nothing short of a God dream come true.

The third involves patience.  Turning your God dream into reality takes time, effort and perseverance.  Thomas Edison failed over 10,000 times before effectively creating the incadescent light bulb.  Where would we be today if he had given up after his 9,999th time?  The evolution of the business I referred to above began over 25 years ago.

There is no dream or vision that is too big or too small to act upon.  They all come together for the good if they are derived from and driven by God.  Is there something special you want to do with your life?  Is there something you are passionate about?  Is there something you think about often?  Is there something you picture yourself doing?  Do you find yourself day dreaming about something and then disregard it as something stupid or too little or too big?  I suggest you commit it to writing and get to work on it RIGHT NOW….tell me, what are ya waitin for?
