P.E.A.C.E.

We all mess up but God can turn our mess into a powerful message if we let him.

— JMeyer —

This morning I will be speaking at the 32nd annual PLUS Overnighter.

The first overnighter took place when I was nine months sober. I was one of the founding members.

When I hit rock bottom in mid-August of 1987, I was lifted by a thought focused on preventing others from choosing the path I had taken with drugs and alcohol.

For over 30 years I have supported Covington’s 5th and 6th-grade Overnighter in various capacities, but one thing I’ve always done is I’ve openly shared my story with the kids–well over a thousand at this point in time.

I frame it up by using my P.E.A.C.E. acronym.

P – No life is more powerful than one that is lived with Purpose and a Plan.

E – Always give your best Effort.

A – Your Attitude will determine the altitude of your life.

C – You become the average of the five people you hang out with the most. Immerse yourself in a Community of people that will make you a better person.

E – Nurture your body, mind, and soul in order to have the Energy you need in order to optimize P, E, A, and C.

When I was at rock bottom, I had no purpose, could have cared less about my effort, my attitude sucked, I was isolating myself from the world, I was physically, mentally and spiritually bankrupt, and I had NO peace.

Fortunately, I was able to rebuild my life a day at a time and I’m living a life of P.E.A.C.E.

Someone at the 2019 Covington-PLUS Overnighter needs to hear my story. Please pray for that person or persons to have their ears and mind open, and pray that the words that come out of my mouth are coming straight from God.

Don’t ever think your screw-ups can’t be used for a higher purpose…I write from experience.

Luke 18:27, “But he said, “What is impossible with men is possible with God.”
