November Energy and Compassion

If your compassion does not include yourself, it is incomplete.

— Jack Kornfield —

Reflection

If we have no compassion for ourselves, it is difficult to bring “real” compassion to our world.

As I’ve shared with you many times, our special guy, Jordan, requires complete care from us. However, our ability to deliver that care compassionately, is proportionate to the care we give to ourselves.

A couple of months ago, I mentioned that Jordan had insomnia, and although it’s gotten better, his sleep challenges still exist.

Lori and I have accommodated Jordan’s insomnia by adjusting our sleep habits. We now sleep in shifts to get the same amount of sleep we’ve always needed to be at full strength when caring for the Jord man.

Sometimes life throws us out of rhythm, but if we are truly compassionate about the condition of our body, mind, and soul, we will find a way to adjust.

Isaiah 58:11, “And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.”
