November Energy and Acceptance

Is there no more significant waste of energy than to waste it on something outside our control?

— JMeyer —

The opening quote came to me as I reflected on the holiday season for our family.

The days of our entire family getting together at the same place and time seem to be over, at least for this particular season in our lives.

Teach your kids to go out and make a life of their own, and they just might take you up on it. 🙂

It would be really easy for me to sit on the pity-pot throughout the holidays, lamenting over happier days gone by and not getting my way in the here and now.

The pity-pot is one of the devil’s favorite tools.

Counter the pity-pot with thanks.

  • I choose to give thanks, knowing that although we won’t be together in one gathering, we will be with each other in increments and also in spirit.
  • I choose to give thanks for getting to spend quality time with our daughter, Michelle, and granddog, Murphy as Michelle has chosen to spend a significant amount of the holiday season with us.
  • I also give thanks knowing in less than two months, we will be grandparents to another precious girl.

Living and flowing with a mindset of, “It is what it is,” instead of getting stuck on, “It isn’t what I want it to be,” is a great way to produce positive energy in your world.

I always write from experience.

1 Thessalonians 5:8, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

I am an excessive worry-wart. So I appreciate this reminder. I also raised a son to be VERY independent and see the world– imagine my surprise when he went out and did this?
