Making the Most of Our Moments

Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.

— Theodore Roosevelt —

Opening Quote said differently…

  • Life is nothing but a series of moments.
  • Some moments are longer than others.
  • Some moments are shorter than others.
  • Some moments are painful.
  • Some moments are joyful.
  • Some moments are good.
  • Some moments are bad.

What to do with our moments…

  1. Cherish, love, and remember the positive moments.
  2. Learn, let go, and move on from the negative moments.

I received an update from our friend Bob yesterday after asking him how his latest “moment” in fighting GVHD (Graft Versus Host Disease) was going. Here’s his reply…

Hey Jay. It has improved. Liver function numbers started to come down and appear to be returning to normal. Skin rash is healing. They reduced the anti-rejection medicine again this week. They would like to get me off of that soon.

I’m 37 days from hitting the 180-day mark in this process.

Bob continues to live in his “moments” while trying to make the best of them. Just the other day, he asked me to let him know when we can get out and bike on the bike trails together…I can’t wait.

The unpleasant obstacles in your life are often God-ordained opportunities to make a difference. ~Rick Warren

Romans 14:11-12, “As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.’ So then, each of us will give an account of ourselves to God.”

And…IMO #1…that account will include how well we did with what we had as we traversed through the various “moments” in our lives.

And…IMO #2…we will not get extra points on our “account” for quarreling with our neighbors about politics, masks, and vaccines. 😉
