Grit and Bear It – Day 27 – Stick to the Plan

Commitment means staying loyal to what you said you were going to do long after the mood you said it in has left you.

Reflection:

The opening quote reminded me of what millions face each New Year—making bold commitments without a clear plan, only to see their resolve fade within weeks.

Last week, I shared my goal of completing a triathlon after a few years off. The first thing I did was create a nine-week training plan leading up to the August 17 race. Knowing I’d miss two weeks for vacation, I adjusted the schedule by adding extra reps before and after those breaks to stay on track.

Grit holds its ground, and having a solid plan lends to being even more “grittier.”

Commitment means eliminating exit strategies and choosing to complete what you started.
