Grit and Bear It – Day 2- When There is No Making Sense

When life hits hard and answers are absent, faith becomes the bridge between heartbreak and hope.

Reflection:

There are moments when life delivers a blow so unexpected and so painful that it stops us in our tracks.

I was recently stopped in my tracks as a fellow brother from my college basketball family passed away unexpectedly.

The loss of a Polar Bear brother—someone who wore the same jersey and shared the same grind—cuts deep. But my grief and pain are nothing compared to what his family and close friends are experiencing. Please lift them in prayer as they navigate the days ahead. Pray for “the family from the Polar Bear family.” God knows who you mean.

In times when what’s going on makes no sense, grit doesn’t mean pretending we’re okay.

It means holding on when everything in us wants to let go.

It means clinging to God’s Word when our hearts can’t make sense of God’s ways.

Isaiah reminds us that His thoughts are higher than ours, and His ways are beyond our understanding.

Grit is choosing to trust that promise even through tears.

Soul Search:

Where do I turn when life shatters my sense of control? Am I willing to hold onto God’s promises even when I don’t understand His plan?

“‘For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,’ declares the Lord. ‘As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.'” — Isaiah 55:8-9 (NIV)
