It may not be your fault for being down, but it is your fault for not getting back up.” (Steve Davis)I saw this quote the other day and it struck a chord with me. So many people allow their circumstances to get them down and then they end up staying down…for the count. How many times does something get us down and we choose to not get back up and then after years of allowing other people places and things to get us down, we stay down permanently?
Satan loves it when he can get us to lay around in our own dung…as I’ve said many times before, I write this blog from pure experience.
You have a choice whether or not you let the “beings and things” of this world control your destination. Deciding to control your destination and your current set of circumstances begins with a plan. “Like the farmer who’s too lazy to plow in the right season and has no food for harvest” (Proverbs 20:4) is the person too lazy to create a plan for “getting back up” and seizing control of his or her life.
After you have the plan, it takes effort to make it work. Solomon tells us about this in Proverbs 13:4 “Lazy people want much but get little, but those who work hard will prosper” and again in Proverbs 21:5 “Good planning and hard work lead to prosperity, but hasty shortcuts lead to poverty.”
I often use the acronym GOYA (Get Off Your Backside) to help people understand what they need to do to get back up and make something of their lives.
GOYA and go and make something great happen!
