Reflection
This morning, I’m not just running the Cap City Half-Marathon—I’m making a statement.
First, it’s a fight back against the health battles and a horrible bike accident that tried to slow me down this past year. But bigger than that, I’m running for a warrior—my friend Bob—a man who refused to let the curveballs of life keep him down.
In the summer of 2020, while training for a full marathon, Bob began experiencing shortness of breath while running, and before he knew it, he was blindsided by Acute Myeloid Leukemia. It tried to take him out. But God, quick medical intervention, and a successful stem cell transplant gave him a second chance.
The comeback road since then? Brutal. Uphill. Full of battles. But Bob didn’t just survive—with God as his partner, he stayed in the fight. And today, at 8 a.m., he steps up to the starting line—not just to finish a race, but to claim the ground the enemy tried to take.
The comeback is always stronger than the setback. Let’s do this Bob!
Send some prayers our way as we charge through the streets of Columbus, Ohio—running with scars, grit, and hearts that refused to quit…the heart part is literal for both of us as Bob has also faced heart challenges over the years.

When the world hits you hard, do you stay down, or do you get up with more determination than ever before?
“Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, fixing our eyes on Jesus…” — Hebrews 12:1-2
