Why Worry?

What's worrying you? Whatever you are worried about is going to happen, or it's not going to happen. Neither of these outcomes will be a result of your worry.

Question

Are you a worrier?

I used to be, and then I found Jesus.

That previous statement always makes me chuckle because every time I say it in front of my wife, she says, “Was Jesus lost?”

Reflection

Yesterday morning I ran across the following scripture and received a nudge from the Holy Spirit to write about it…

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. (1 John 4:18)

…and then I was led to a couple of verses earlier in 1 John 4…

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in god, and God in them. (1 John 4:16)

Facts from 1 John 14 …

God is love…and there is NO fear in love (God).

Perfect love (God) drives out fear.

Exercise

Try praying every time you have an anxious thought about something you fear because there is no fear in God.

If you pray why worry, if you worry why pray?

Philippians 4:6-7. “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
