Every day I get up and do my morning devotion. It is a time for me to pray, read the bible and listen and reflect on what the Lord has in store for me. It is my way of getting in touch right out of the gate. I put the armor of God on first thing and then I try to go out and do his work effectively. Part of my morning devotion includes reading the Proverb that corresponds with the day of the month it is. For example today is May 2 and I read Proverbs chapter 2. There are 31 Proverbs and yes I read them over and over year after year.
Proverbs were written by Solomon who is considered the world’s wisest man (next to Jesus of course). He was the son of David, king of Israel. Proverbs were breathed into Solomon by the Holy Spirit and are a great source of wisdom. Often times we confuse wisdom with knowledge. There is a big difference between the two. Knowledge is having the facts while wisdom is applying the facts to our daily lives. Wisdom in action requires discipline and discipline often requires us to do something that we do not want to do. Putting knowledge into action is wisdom at work. It is called walking the walk.
As I mentioned the wisdom of Solomon is breathed into Solomon by the Holy Spirit. The same Holy Spirit we have as Christians. We have the ability to be as wise as Solomon….wow that is an awesome thought. How do we do it? Practice by studying the greatest. Read and study a Proverb every day and before you know it you begin living life effectively.
