Whipping the devil – Day 24 – Time

“Wise is the man who doesn’t wait to be on his death bed in order to value every minute he has on earth.”  ~JJM

A couple of mornings ago during my devotion/meditation time the above thought came to me.

Can you imagine what it would be like to not waste a minute of time while alive?  Think of everything you would get done.

Our buddy the devil loves for us to waste time.

God wants us to invest our time on great things.

The opposition wants us to waste our time on worthless things.

In essence we are either building something great or worthless.

The end result of what we are building often depends on what value we place on time.

If you want to tick the devil off take some time to note the top four or five roles and responsibilities in your life and make up your mind your time will be focused on making those roles as excellent as they can be.  Treat them like an asset and invest your time in them.

It is amazing what happens when we begin to value our time and utilize it more effectively.  Many of the devil’s ploys, which I’ve written about the past 23 days, seem to go away.  Fear-fueled traits like self doubt, taking things personally, fear of failure, procrastination, gossip, anxiety, judging others, anger, holding resentments etc… have no place in a life focused on placing value on every moment air is being breathed.

If 50% of the U.S. population took my challenge above seriously and utilized 50% of their time more effectively there would be very little need for mindless news shows, reality T.V. shows, social media sites and the like…we would become a better world…something the devil does not want to happen.

Below are a few lines from the lyrics of Pink Floyd’s song “Time,” I think you will agree they are quite relevant to this blog.

-Kicking around on a piece of ground in your home town.  Waiting for someone or something to show you the way.

-And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.  No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun.

-Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way…

Pull up the rest of the lyrics to “Time” and watch the video below.

Pink Floyd, “Time”

“Someday I’ll” never comes…begin valuing your time by the minute today.
