Wheel of Life – What’s at Your Center?

God may not guide us in an obvious way because he wants us to make decisions based on faith and character.

This is a continuation from yesterday’s post:

Whether it be a business or a human being, our decisions are born from our thoughts and our thoughts are born from our beliefs and values.

In order for our business to be successful in changing our decision making process we needed to create a fresh set of core values to guide our thinking.

Over a twenty-four month period we developed and brought to life a set of values that were at the center of every decision we made.  This shift in our culture and our thinking was the primary reason we were able to effectively and sanely navigate through exponential growth  for several years.

What is at your center?

What guides your decision making process?

Whatever is at the center of our Wheel of Life dictates the decisions. Whatever is at the center of our Wheel of Life impacts the other key components of our Wheel.

Whatever is at the center of our Wheel of Life impacts our decisions as well as the other key components of our Wheel.

If you look at the diagram above, you will notice I made an adjustment to the “Wheel of Life Focus Areas” by placing our spiritual condition at the center of our Wheel.  This is a personal preference for me.

When God is at my center, the other components of my Wheel of Life are stronger which leads to a more productive and balanced ride through life.

What is at the center of your Wheel of Life?

What do you tend to focus on the most?

Is it money?

Is it things?

Is it your status?

Is it keeping up with other people?

Is it another human being?

Is it an obsession with health?

Is it an obsession with death?

Is it an addiction?

Is it all about you?

Is it your need to look smart or better than others?

The examples above are simply areas I’ve struggled with over the years.

Think about how we react to situations when anything but God is at our center.

I know a fair amount of people who have their political affiliation at their center and they are currently in a perpetual state of distress. 🙂

Romans 12:2, “Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking.  Instead, fix your attention on God.  You’ll be changed from the inside out.  Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it.  Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity, God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.”  (MSG)
