Fear & Procrastination

Sitting on your hind end thinking about and waiting for the 'perfect' opportunity is simply a creative form of laziness.

God at Center-Mental PPTOver the next few weeks we will be studying excerpts from my book, “FEAR – PROOF” as we look at how damaging fear can be to the Mental component of our Wheel of Life.

Another behavior born out of fear is procrastination.  The devil loves for us to procrastinate because it prevents us from growing and expanding.

I picture life as a river of opportunities that flows continuously.  Based on our frame of mind we either see the opportunities or we don’t and procrastination literally shuts our eyes to opportunity.

Procrastination is only conquered with action.  And the four best action steps I know are pray, picture, plan and practice.

  1. Pray for God to open your eyes in order to see the opportunities He is presenting to you.
  2. Picture what your life will look life once you seize one of the opportunities.
  3. Put a plan together to allow you to create a blueprint for how your life will look after seizing the opportunity.
  4. Then make it happen through daily practice and execution.

It’s impossible to make progress when we overthink.  One of the greatest slogans in the history of business was Nike’s - Just Do It. This slogan inspired a generation of athletes and made Nike the world leader in athletic apparel.

What do you need to quit thinking about and start doing?  Who knows, maybe God wants you to be the world leader in something.  I know He definitely wants you to be the leader of a life of positive action.

Proverbs 13:4 (NIV), “A sluggard’s appetite is never filled, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied.”

Additional Scripture to read and reflect upon:  Proverbs 12:24, Proverbs 20:4, Matthew 6:33

Do you procrastinate?  What beliefs, thoughts and actions cause you to struggle with procrastination?
