Have you ever wondered if hell really exists? Do you believe that people who do not believe in Christ go to hell? I’ve got to be honest, ever since I can remember, I never worried about hell. I have close Christian friends that believe very strongly in hell. We recently had some people at our church leave for good because we invited a speaker who is a part of the “emergent church” to speak at our annual conference in the fall. Somehow, someway hard line Christians are saying emergent churches do not believe in hell. Nowhere in my research do I find that as being true. It is crap like this that has always turned me off to religion. I choose to be turned on by Jesus.
I find it hard to believe that God who loves all of us so much, and who had his son die a horrible death for our freedom from the bondage of sin, would allow any of his children to go to hell. Some challenge that thought by saying if he was so loving then why did he put his son thru the tortuous death that he did? Remember, his son conquered death on the third day and subsequently conquered sin in order to give all of us a free ride to eternal life.
Do I believe in hell? Yes I do. Do I believe it is in the middle of the earth? Heck no. I believe people create their own hell right here on earth when they choose to be of the world instead of the Spirit.
I’ve always wondered about the religions that do not include Christ. If I was raised Muslim, Bhudist or Jewish and knew no different, would I end up in hell when I die? I know people of these type of religions that are way more at peace with their Spirit than Christians. The Jews are God’s chosen people…how in the world will they end up in hell? I believe the same for anyone who believes in God, lives a Godly life and does not believe in Jesus. I just cannot see my God not giving everyone a final chance on judgement day.
The 15 minutes it took for me to write this blog is 15 minutes I could have spent witnessing to someone about Jesus. Satan likes it when we waste our time arguing about hell and I hate it when I waste my time doing anything that satan likes.
