There was a metaphoric phrase I heard quite often in the 12 Step rooms I used to frequent during my first several years of recovery. We were told we needed to peel away the layers of the onion if we were going to get sober and stay sober.
In other words we needed to peel away all of the lies and character defects we had accumulated over the years in order to get in touch with the truth and our true selves.
It takes an extraordinary amount of vulnerability to name our character defects and deal with them but the end result is true pleasure as Bob Marley refers to in the opening quote.
Are you comfortable in your own skin or are you living in a skin you really don’t want to have and have no idea whose it is?
Strive to always be the best version of yourself, you are the only version God made of you.
