Useful Past

The past is a teacher not a residence.

Reflection

Another end-of-year practice of mine is intentional reflection.

I flip back through my journal and take a peek at workouts logged, daily highlights captured, and photos from meaningful moments, like our recent wedding adventure.

I take note of where I’ve grown personally and professionally, and I’m honest about where I’ve fallen short.

I don’t spend much time living in the past as I want to make the absolute most of my future. But when used wisely, the past becomes an influential teacher, offering clarity, gratitude, and direction for what’s ahead.

Soul Search

  • What progress did you make in 2025?
  • Where did you fall short?
  • Can your 2025 “fall shorts” serve as fuel for progress in 2026?

2 Corinthians 5-17, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
