Unlearning is Learning

Intelligent people are always open to new ideas. In fact they look for them.

— Proverbs 18:15 (NLT) —

The other day I was working with a young man who has decided to head in a new direction in his profession.  He had spent his past several years with a very well known and highly regarded organization.  During our talk he said, “Jay I’ve learned a ton of great things over the past several years but there are some things I know I need to unlearn.”  I thought to myself, “what a wise statement from a very young man.”

The EagleLaunch focus for 2016 is all about helping you make the most of yourself.

If you reread Proverb 18:15 there is something it doesn’t say that also holds true and that is intelligent people also have the ability to let go of old ideas and beliefs that are getting in their way of growing.  Just like the young man I referenced in the beginning of this post.

The most intelligent people I know have learned that unlearning old harmful beliefs, thoughts, and behaviors is just as important as learning new ideas.
