Under Your Feet

The foolish man seeks happiness in the distance; the wise grows it under his feet.

— James Oppenheim —

Reflection

I believe the “foolish man” Oppenheim is talking about is the person who seeks happiness through the “happenings” in their life.

If you need to buy happiness, make friends for happiness, be famous for happiness, or look anywhere other than under your feet for happiness…Houston, you have a problem.

Question

Do you seek your happiness from a distance, or can you be happy in the moment?

Solution

Suppose you find yourself being “bipolar” with your happiness. In that case, you may want to quit relying on your “happenings” and start depending on your spiritual condition, which is right under your own feet and living inside your heart and soul.

Proverbs 16:20, “He that handles a matter wisely shall find good:  and whoever trusts in the Lord, happy is he.”
