Twelve Days of Choosing Peace Over Anxiety – Day 6

God’s voice is rarely loud, but it is always steady.

Reflection

When I saw the opening quote, I reflected on how many times God has spoken to me in my thoughts, which I can interpret as a whisper.

The key to hearing those whispers is being dialed in to a Power greater than myself.

Step Eleven of the Twelve Steps of AA says, “Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God, as we understood Him. Praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.”

Notice it doesn’t say “occasional contact,” or “crisis contact.”

Those of us striving to run a solid recovery program know it depends on staying in constant contact with our Higher Power. I’ve been trying my best to do that for over 38 years, and during those 38 years, I have found that God’s voice is rarely loud but always steady…as long as I’m in contact with him.

Christmas can be noisy…literally and figuratively. Yet God often speaks in a whisper.

Making space for quiet helps us tune our hearts to His voice and rediscover peace amid the chaos.

Soul Search

How can I intentionally create quiet time with God this week?

1 Kings 19:12, “After the fire came a gentle whisper.” (NIV)
