Monday Morning Leadership-Turn the Corner

We must all face the choice between what is right and what is easy.

— Albus Dumbledore —

The opening quote reminded me of a conversation about leadership I had with my daughter a couple of nights ago.

We discussed how the best leaders are able to overcome the urge of settling for a ‘short term good,’ when a ‘long term great,’ is waiting just around the corner.

The world is dominated by the emotion of instant gratification these days. It seems as though most people are willing to take ‘the short term good,’ in place of the ‘long term great.’

Being able to deny ourselves one ‘instant gratification’ moment at a time is the only way to overcome this character flaw.

For me, I can’t do this alone, I usually have to ask God to help me to overcome the urge to succumb to emotions in the moment so I can wait for something better, and sometimes something better is nothing. 🙂

Romans 8:25, But if we hope for what we do not see, we wait for it with patience.
