Trusting Him

When a train goes through a tunnel and it gets dark, you don't throw away the ticket and jump off. You sit still and trust the engineer.

— Corrie Ten Boom —

This quote by Ten Boom takes me back many years ago when I was early in recovery.  I not only had the pressure of learning how to live without drugs or alcohol one day at a time, but I was in deep doo doo with the law and the state pharmacy board because of my own stupid decisions during my drug addiction days.

Every day I got up thinking that was the day I was going to jail.

I would combat this fear of going to prison with prayer and a commitment to doing the next right thing.

Up to that point in my life, I had never walked more closely with the Lord.  The close walk was not out of my hope that He would reward my obedience.  The close walk was out of my faith that He would get me through this.

And He did.

And the rest is history.

Sometimes we need to slow down, get close to Him, commit to doing the next right thing, and trust His solutions for our life…I write from experience.

Psalm 46:10
