A couple of weeks ago, I rode my bike on a section of our nation’s most expansive and beautiful bike corridor, The Great Miami River Trail.
It was a glorious morning with little to no wind.
The sun was shining.
I was cruising while attending a class through “Audio University.” Said differently, I was listening to “Culture Code” by Daniel Coyle through my Audible app.
Then my spirit soothing and uplifting bike ride came to a grinding halt…
I came upon a rider parked alongside the trail, and I could tell he was distressed by the sad frown on his face. So I slowed and asked if he needed help. He told me he had a flat tire with no spare, and he was getting ready to walk his bike back to his car about five miles away–an approximately 90-minute walk.
I asked if I could look at the tire and see if I could fix it. I always carry a bountiful supply of goods needed to fix a flat tire–ever since I, too, was once stranded on the bike path with a long walk ahead of me.
Much to his enjoyment, I was able to get his tire fixed and send him on his way.
He told me that the first thing he would do after finishing his ride was stop at the bike store to purchase a tire repair kit.
Thomas Edison once said, “Success is 10% inspiration and 90% perspiration.”
Although I believe the quote is valid, I would add that the 90% perspiration includes at least 50% preparation.
Luck is when preparation meets opportunity. ~John Wooden
A few random thoughts provoked by the opening quote…
Although it is impossible to have a perfect day, it is entirely possible to have solid days if we take the time the night before to prepare for tomorrow.
Do you find your life easily taken off course due to ongoing flat tires (challenging moments) and no repair kit (preparation)?
At the end of each day, do you take time to prepare for tomorrow or drop from exertion after battling through another unplanned day?
I’d rather be lucky than good.
Luck is preparation.
Luck is buying the repair kit before it’s needed.
The Ultimate repair kit is free and available 24/7.
