The Well

What's down in the well comes up in the bucket.

Reader beware–this writing is a random thought ramble…

Yesterday morning I noted the following in my journal…

The world, in many ways, is ugly right now.

But I’m guessing it’s always been ugly.

The world, in many ways, is beautiful right now.

But I’m guessing it’s always been beautiful.

What you see is what you get.

Then I ran across the opening quote and felt as though the following needed to be added to my previous thought…

And what you see is determined by what is in your well.

Ever since I had my crash and burn over three decades ago, I’ve been on a quest to keep my “well” clean.

We all have a “well” and when times get difficult there is a good chance the world will get to see what is at the bottom of our wells.

Is the bottom of your well dingy and dirty?

or

Is the bottom of your well clear and vibrant?

Is it filled with fear and despair?

or

Is it filled with faith and hope?

How you are handling life right now is a good indication of what is at the bottom of your “well.”

We live in the country and have a well.

Because our well doesn’t contain the cleanest of water, we have a water softener and purification system that processes four times a week.

Personally, I’d be in trouble if I only softened and purified my “well” four times a week. It is a daily process for me.

How about you?

BTW…I know my “well” is pretty clean when I’m able to see more beauty than ugliness in the world.

Matthew 12:34, “Brood of vipers! How can you speak good things when you are evil? For the mouth speaks from the overflow of the heart.”
