Taking Action – Day 9 – Still Moving Forward

It is not the mountain we conquer, but ourselves.

— Sir Edmund Hillary —

Reflection

Not even forty years old, and one of my daughter’s best high school buddies now has the word “cancer” written into the story of her life.

When the news came, it landed heavily in my heart.

She is young. She is full of life. And yet, there it was.

Then I opened her Caring Bridge page, and something unexpected happened. Instead of a lament, there was a battle plan.

She thanked the people who had already rallied around her.

She named the steps she intended to take.

She looked forward.

Not sideways into fear, and not backward into grief…forward, with her eyes focused on the goal and her feet already moving.

There is something to be said for moving forward despite the obstacle.

Please pray for our friend “Pharm,” as she begins on a journey no one is ever prepared to take.

Soul Search

Where in your life have you stopped moving?

What is God calling you to act on today?

“Do you not know? Have you not heard? The Lord is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” Isaiah 40:28–31 (NIV)
