Taking Action – Day 17 – Gratitude is Action

Gratitude turns what we have into enough and more.

Reflection

We often think of gratitude as passive — a feeling we have when things are going well. But gratitude can also be a form of action…

It can be the decision to notice what is already good before rushing toward what is missing.

It can be a practice, a discipline, a choice made daily regardless of circumstances.

Intentional gratitude changes the way we move through the world.

When I am grateful, I am more generous. When I am more generous, I create connection. When I create connection, I build the kinds of relationships that sustain a meaningful life.

Gratitude also interrupts the anxiety cycle. It’s nearly impossible to be simultaneously grateful and consumed by worry. The two cannot fully occupy the same space.

Today, before you chase the next thing, stop and name three things you already have.

Soul Search:

  • Where has ingratitude quietly poisoned my perspective?
  • What am I grateful for that I have never said out loud — and to whom should I say it?

Scripture: “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18 (NIV)
