Happy is an Attitude

A happy person is not a person in a certain set of circumstances but with a certain set of attitudes.

— Hugh Downs —

Reflection

I feel incredibly blessed whenever I walk with our special guy Jordan from our house to his day-program bus on weekday mornings.

I’ve yet to see a time when Jordy and his fellow bus riders aren’t happy. Jordy’s best friend belly laughs from extreme excitement the minute he sees Jordy step foot on the bus.

Jordy and his friends are all blessed with not being able to care about what is happening around them; they live quite happily in the moment.

Facts

I have to believe God wired us to have positive attitudes–to be happy.

but

When our attitude goes south, so does our ability to be happy.

I can’t control other people, places, things, and circumstances, but I can always maintain my attitude.

Question

Is your happiness dependent upon your circumstances or your attitude?

Proverbs 17:22, “A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”
