Roads

“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—I took the one less traveled by, and that has made all the difference.”  ~Robert Frost

Throughout my life I’ve traveled down some less-traveled roads.  Some because of stupidity, others because of rebellion but mostly because I’ve always been my own person.  This is probably why I have such a huge disdain for politics as people often take sides with very little thought.

It seems as though our world today has become somewhat robotic (especially in the U.S.), where people would rather be told what to do and simply fall in line and do it.  I believe we’ve become way too willing to let others do our thinking for us.

Although Frost is referring to the road our life takes, I believe an even more important road is the road our thinking takes.  Today I am constantly challenging my beliefs, my opinions and always trying to find the road in all situations which is called “understanding.”

In his book, How Successful People Think,  John Maxwell quotes Kevin Myers:  “The problem with popular thinking is it requires no thinking at all.”

Who does your thinking for you?
