Being the Church

Living God's way means putting away your self-centeredness and committing yourself to follow God's word in spite of any feelings to the contrary.

— John C. Broger —

I know, you thought I had taken a permanent vacation from my blog. 🙂

I told you I would be gone but had no clue how long I’d be gone. I knew I needed time to rearrange my life due to a new opportunity, but had no idea it would only take me eighteen days to do so.

I also underestimated how much I enjoyed writing this blog.

My posts for 2018 will be focused on being ‘His Church.’ As most of you know, I write these blogs to challenge and encourage myself with hopes of also challenging and encouraging you!

The thought of being ‘His Church’ came to me as I was lamenting the fact that the church we attend took this past weekend off because of all the work they put into their Christmas Eve services. I lamented even further when I found our online church was also taking the weekend off.

I find it peculiar that a church would take a weekend off because of Christmas…

Then God reminded me of how I am called to be the church regardless of whether or not I am inside a church. And then I thought, “Maybe our church needs to take weekends off because so-called Christ followers like myself aren’t pulling our weight.”

As I’ve said many times in this blog–If I’m not the problem, there is no solution.

If you are a Christ follower, are you being His church?

If not, what obstacles are preventing you from being His church?

Prayer for the day: God, give me the willingness to live for You and not for me. Give me the desire to be consumed by the right stuff…Your stuff. It’s in Your Son’s name I pray. Amen.

1 Corinthians 10:24, “Let no one seek his own good, but the good of his neighbor.”

Can’t tell you how good it is that you’re back writing these blogs. They have helped me so much over the past year. I would send them to my son each morning and it was a way of us being on the same page. It means so much to read spiritual insights from someone who has gone through the whole addiction thing and is helping others. Thank you!!
