reVision Yourself

Our job in this lifetime is not to shape ourselves into some ideal we imagine we ought to be but to find out who we already are and become it.

— Steven Pressfield —

Thought

For the last twenty-three years, we have been blessed to live in the country.

Years ago, my AA sponsor paid us a visit and at first glimpse, he whispered, “Serenity Acres.” That name has stuck.

We are surrounded by trees, wildlife, water, beautiful sunrises, and sunsets.

We are surrounded by nature.

I love nature.

Nature simply does its own thing, season after season, with no applause, pomp, or pageantry.

Nature has nothing to compare itself to.

It is what it is.

Nature knows what it is and its primary responsibility is to become what it is in order for life to go on.

Why This Thought?

For some reason, the opening quote took my imagination for a grateful journey through Serenity Acres.

We live in a distracted world.

A world that oftentimes is pulling us in various directions. A pull that often creates a desire for us to become something we aren’t.

Social media along with all other forms of media are most likely the primary culprits of this crazy phenomena.

Fact

The enemy is always trying to get us to become something we aren’t.

God made us perfect as we are.

Our goal in life is to find that perfect self.

Not a self that is perfect on its own.

A self that is perfect in God’s image.

Goal

As we are reVisioning our future it is important to really understand who we are and what we stand for–and strive to become those things.

Have you ever taken the time to jot down some thoughts about who you are?

Have you ever noted your key values and/or beliefs that guide your thinking and actions?

Have you ever taken the time to jot down your strengths, your passions, your gifts?

If you haven’t, now is the time.

Don’t let the world turn you into something you aren’t.

Let God turn you into who He made you to be and who He needs you to be…yourself…just like nature.

1 Peter 4:10, “As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God’s varied grace:”
