reFOCUS Day 29 – Say No to Grow

You have to decide what your highest priorities are and have the courage—pleasantly, smilingly, non-apologetically—to say ‘no’ to other things.

Reflection:

“The essence of strategy is determining what not to do,” said Michael Porter, a leading authority in business strategy. I often share this quote during strategic planning sessions because it cuts to the heart of clarity and focus. Put simply: Who are you not? What won’t you do?

In a world moving at warp speed, saying yes to everything is easy when you’re unclear about who you are, what you stand for, and why you exist. But every “yes” is also a “no”—a trade-off that can quietly derail your priorities.

Growth requires the discipline to protect your purpose by filtering out the noise.

Strategic clarity isn’t just about choosing the right path—it’s about refusing the wrong ones.

Soul Search:

Where do you need to say “no” so your “yes” to your purpose, priorities, and responsibilities can be louder?

Matthew 5:37 (NIV) – “Let your ‘Yes’ be yes, and your ‘No,’ no…”
