reFOCUS – Day 19 – Progress Over Perfection

Done is better than perfect.

Reflection

During the early days of my recovery, I often heard the phrase, “Progress over perfection.” At first, I didn’t fully understand it. I thought recovery depended on getting everything right. Over time, I realized recovery wasn’t about perfection; it was about showing up every day, doing the next right thing, and trusting God with the outcome.

Daily progress, not flawless performance, was what changed my life.

I’ve discovered that same principle applies to every area of life. Too often, we postpone the dream, delay the conversation, or avoid the opportunity because we’re waiting for the perfect moment or the perfect plan. But perfection is often fear dressed up as wisdom.

God isn’t asking us to be perfect; He’s asking us to be faithful. He honors the person who takes the next step in obedience, even when that step feels small or uncertain.

What have you been putting off because it isn’t perfect? What’s one faithful step God is asking you to take today?

“Let us not grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”Galatians 6:9 (NIV)
