reFOCUS – Day 21 – Start Where You Are

Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.

— Arthur Ashe —

Unleash your potential through action…

Reflection:

When I saw the opening quote, I was reminded of a time in my professional career over three decades ago…

Back in the mid-1990s, our pharmacy was still small but in need of a boost. I decided to add infusion therapy to our services—even though I knew very little about it. I took the leap: enrolled in classes, traveled the country, and learned from the best. Within a year, we launched what would become one of the most vital parts of our nursing home service package.

It was one of the most challenging tasks of my career. Preparing IV medications in a sterile environment has zero room for error, and building systems to ensure accurate and timely delivery adds even more complexity.

I was on call 24/7, glued to my cell phone for the first couple of years, which meant it was on my nightstand to take middle-of-the-night troubleshooting calls…Lori loved those. 🙂

None of this was easy—but it was worth it because we were able to serve our patients better…which I believe is why God gave me a nudge to go in this direction.

Lessons Learned…

I didn’t wait for God to clear the path. I stepped out in faith, and with each move forward, the vision became clearer.

God doesn’t ask you to begin with what you lack. He blesses bold, faithful action with the tools already in your hand.

Soul Search:

What resource, talent, or opportunity are you holding back that God wants you to use?

Exodus 4:2 (NIV) – “What is that in your hand?”
