Recovery Month – Day 3 – Spiritual Beings

We are spiritual beings wrapped in a human body. If we aren't nurturing our spiritual selves, then unbeknownst to us, other people, places, and things will do it for us.

— Jay Meyer —

September is National Recovery Month. Every September, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Service Association (SAMHSA) sponsors Recovery Month to increase awareness and understanding of mental and substance use disorders and celebrate the people who recover.

For the next 30 days, I will be sharing short excerpts from my latest book–Victory Over Opiates, which is available on Amazon (click here).

The following was taken from “Note to Readers,” pg. 15 of Victory Over Opiates:

I attribute my ability to maintain continuous sobriety since August 9, 1987, by working a solid recovery program. The foundation of this program is my morning devotion time spent with God. During this time, I read scripture, meditate, journal, and pray. I believe this time is critical for anyone who is trying to whip an addiction, change a habit, or just trying to be the best representative of God they can be.

We are spiritual beings wrapped in a human body. If we aren’t nurturing our spiritual selves, then unbeknownst to us, other people, places, and things will do it for us…drugs and alcohol once served that role for me, and I refuse ever to let that happen again.

PLEASE pass this blog on to anyone who may benefit.

All royalties I receive from the sale of Victory Over Opiates-(click here to order), will be donated to The Joshua Recovery Ministries, a Dayton, Ohio, non-profit dedicated to getting recovery addicts back into the mainstream of life.
