Quote Reflection
The battle for recovery begins in the mind. Guarding our thoughts is guarding our future.
When I entered recovery, my thinking was all over the place.
I believed I could control people, places, and situations—but the truth was I was just a skilled manipulator.
I thought I had all the answers, relying on my own intuition and life experiences, only to realize I knew far less than I believed. My mind had to be renewed with truthful thoughts.
I also thought asking for help was a weakness. Over time, I discovered it’s one of the bravest things a person can do. Admitting I didn’t have it all together and leaning on others opened the door to real growth.
I could list a dozen more twisted ways I once thought, but you get the picture. Recovery has been, and still is, a daily battle of fixing my thoughts. I’m far from perfect, but compared to where I started, I’ve come a long way. Progress, not perfection, is the victory.
