Reality

A time of turbulence is a dangerous time, but its greatest danger is a temptation to deny reality.

— Peter Drucker —

Drucker was the 20th century guru of utilizing management in order to create a fine tuned organization.  Although his quote was directed at business it also may be applied to your personal life.

Building strong character, whether it be the character of an organization or department you are leading, or your own life, requires the ability to handle the demands of reality.  It is through the turbulent times where character is built.  This sounds cliche but it is the absolute truth.

Running and hiding from and/or rationalizing (rational-lies-ing) the turbulence, is a great way to never develop character.

If you are leading, whether it be an organization or your life, it will only be done effectively if you choose to stay in touch with reality.

A great way to stay in touch with reality is to stay in touch with God and strong mentors…both of whom are willing to tell you what you don’t want to hear.
