Purposeful Action

A life of purpose is built in motion. Clarity may guide you but action defines you.

Reflection:

Last weekend, our whole family gathered at our oldest child’s home for a grandparents’ day at the granddaughters’ school — a rare and wonderful treat.

Getting everyone together isn’t easy. Our oldest and youngest live eight to twelve hours away. I often tell parents of young children: “If you raise your kids to be independent and encourage them to chase their dreams, don’t be surprised when they do.” 😊

It was a fantastic weekend, complete with what our family calls “highly intellectual” adult conversations. At one point, I told the younger adults in the room that the keys to staying healthy are simple: stay active mentally and physically, do resistance training, and eat plenty of protein. They laughed, as I have a habit of dropping unsolicited wisdom into unrelated conversations.

On the drive home, I kept turning that thought over: staying active really is the key to living well. And as we head into May… when spring energy has a way of waking everything back up, it feels like the perfect theme.

So here we go.

A life of purpose is built in motion. But motion without direction is just busyness. It starts with knowing your purpose.

Soul Search:

  • What is my purpose?
  • Where am I active but not aligned with it?

“Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” — Proverbs 16:3 (NIV)
