Proverbs 3

(Several years ago I was encouraged by a friend to make the Proverb that corresponds with the day of the month, a part of my morning devotion.  There are 31 Proverbs and although I’ve been reading them consistently for a number of years, each time I read them I seem to draw another “life nugget” that helps me better deal with life and live the way God wants me to live.  My morning Proverb time is simply a part of my personal improvement plan.  I know I am less than 24 hours away from messing things up if I don’t ask God to be the director of my day, first thing, each and every day.  For the month of May I will be writing short blog thoughts for each of the Proverbs.)

Proverbs 3:5-6, “Trust in the Lord with all our heart; do not depend on your own understanding.  Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” (NLT)

When I seek God’s will for me, He always leads me to the right thoughts, people and/or places and in turn always shows me the right path.  Be careful though as sometimes God’s path for you is the one you are already on…thus the reason to seek HIS will with all your heart.

Proverbs 3:13-14, “Joyful is the person who finds wisdom, the one who gains understanding.  For wisdom is more profitable than silver, and her wages are better than gold.” (NLT)

How cool is this?  Wisdom is more profitable than silver and gold!!!!  One thing to remember…in order to gain wisdom I must know and believe that I DO NOT have all the answers.  “The more I know, the more I know I need to know.”

Remember-personal improvement is a process, it is not an event.  Taking the time to read and reflect on this Proverb will allow you to make today a little bit better than yesterday.
