Promises*

“We promise according to our hopes, and perform according to our fears.”  ~Francois duc de la Rochefoucauld

I believe personal integrity is built by keeping one promise at a time.  The most important promises we make and keep are the promises we make to ourselves.  We live in a nation of gluttony where we are addicted to things that make us feel better and I believe this gluttony is simply a side effect of a nation of people who no longer make and keep promises to themselves.

Read the quote above.

Who is at the foundation of your hopes?

Who is at the foundation of your fears?

If you’ve been following this blog for any amount of time you should know the answer to question one is God and the answer to question number two is the devil.

Look around you.  Who is winning right now?

We can begin whipping the devil and his gluttonous scheme by keeping promises we make to ourselves a little more often than we break them.

Nuff said.
