Ask and Build YOUR Spirit

The greatest tragedy in life is the prayer that goes unanswered simply because it goes unasked.

Reflection

A little over fifty years ago, I experienced letting go of a close family member to the eternal for the first time. With that experience came the devastating feeling that comes with the thought of never seeing a loved one again.

During that time, I prayed through my tears and emotions for God to perform a miracle and keep Grandpa alive. Miraculously, he battled back and lived a couple more days–a couple additional days that allowed for my mom to have proper closure with her dad. My mom referred to those two days often during the early stages of her grieving process. I never told her that I felt as though my prayer had sustained grandpa a few extra hours.

That brief moment in my journey changed my spirit forever as I became a believer in prayer.

Prayer creates miracles, albeit sometimes not the miracles we hope for, but the miracles God sees fit for us to experience…like the miraculous power of prayer that changed my spirit forever in 1973.

Prayer is as much for the spirit of the person praying as it is for the recipient of the prayer…I always write from experience.

Mark 11:24, “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”

John 3:16, “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”
