No Small Potato

The size of your assignment does not determine the significance of your impact.

The picture is of a nameplate on a bench that is strategically located on the bike/running path in Piqua, Ohio. I had enjoyed the bench dozens of times before but never noticed the nameplate until this past Sunday during a run.

Prior to this writing, I googled Mr. Wenrick’s name but came up with nothing.

He obviously impacted someone enough to give them the notion to provide a place to sit and take in the beauties of nature in his memory.

I bet Mr. Wenrick would be blown away if he knew how many people he never knew were being positively impacted by who he was.

Thank you, Mr. Wenrick your bench is much appreciated.

Ironically, prior to my run last Sunday, I downloaded what seemed like a great Christian self-help book to my Audible app. The author has millions of followers on social media. The book has got to be great, right?

Wrong.

I couldn’t make it through the first ten minutes of listening. I won’t get into the reasons why but it made me wonder who his 10 million followers were? …that’s a blog for another day.

Back to the opening quote.

Lots and lots of people, Christians included, are focused on building their “brand” through social media these days.

Random thought…is their brand really helping anyone or is it simply about drawing the spotlight to themselves?

You don’t need millions of social media followers to impact the world.

If you strive to give your best in all you do–as if you are working for Him–your impact will be of significance whether you realize it or not.

Just like George the potato farmer.

Colossians 3:23, “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men,” (ESV)

The longer I live the more I realize that life is more about who I become than it is about what I do.
