Perseverance, Strength and Yielding

A yielded life that's settled in God's word, open to His work within us, and made adequate in the Holy Spirit's love and power is immovable in the tempests of life.

— Charles Stanley —

I came across the opening nugget of wisdom during my morning devotion yesterday.

A yielded life … meaning Thy will not my will be done.

Settled in God’s word … meaning not the world’s word but God’s word … meaning I read it with the intent of allowing it to penetrate my spirit.

Open to His work within us … meaning we need to be living on the right side of the fence where He does His best work through us. You’ve heard many times from me about what happens when we sit on the fence when it comes to our faith walk…it hurts our crotch. We either believe and trust in Him or we don’t believe and trust in Him. There is no such thing as faith in between.

Made adequate in the Holy Spirit’s love and power … meaning–that’s all we need–His love and power flowing through us 24/7 via the Holy Spirit.

All of the above are the key ingredients in creating…

An immovable spirit (strong, steady, and sturdy) regardless of the tempests (storms) we come up against.

The COVID-19 pandemic is definitely the biggest “tempest” the world has faced in my lifetime and I would be a wavering sliver of wet wheat without my willingness to yield to His love and power early and often every day.

How sturdy has your spirit been during this storm?

The strength of your spirit is directly proportionate to how much of your life you “yield” to Him…I write from experience.

Psalm 27:1, “Life, space, zest–that’s God! So, with Him on my side, I’m fearless, afraid of no one and nothing.” (The Message)
