When I saw the opening quote I thought of my wife, Lori.
She is the epitome of calmness. I truly believe God knows who he gives “special” people to because our son Jordan could not have landed in the arms of a better mother than Lori.
Every day is a new adventure with Jordan especially since his day-hab program has been closed for the past month due to the COVID-19 shutdown.
Lori’s “calm” certainly gives us the power to make it through most days in a graceful manner.
I’ve yet to read anywhere in the Bible where we are instructed to be crazy, angry, or spazzed out when faced with a challenge, but it does talk a lot about staying calm…
2 Timothy 4:5, “But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship”
Ecclesiastes 7:9, “Do not be eager in your heart to be angry, for anger resides in the bosom of fools.”
Proverbs 14:17, “A quick-tempered man acts foolishly,”
Proverbs 15:18, “A hot-tempered man stirs up strife, but the slow to anger calms a dispute.”
Psalm 37:37, “Look at those who are honest and good, for a wonderful future awaits those who love peace.”
How has your “calm” been through this storm?
Are you feeling as though COVID-19 is robbing your serenity from you and in-turn taking away your strength and power?
Are you seeking your “calm” from God or from the world?
There is something I would add to the opening quote…
Calmness is the cradle of power AND God is the cradle of calmness.
Galatians 5:22, “But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control.”
