Perseverance – Day 16 – Effort (Continuous)

Continuous effort - not strength or intelligence - is the key to unlocking our potential.

— Winston Churchill —

I remember talking with a businessman who built a billion dollar business.  I asked him to tell me in one word, the secret to his success and he said, “Perseverance.”

Definition of perseverance –

  1. :  continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition :  the action or condition or an instance of persevering : steadfastness.

I believe continued effort despite difficulties, failure or opposition (perseverance) has created more success stories than any other human attribute.  It’s the reason my license plate says “EFFORT.”  I got my vanity plate when I moved on from my pharmacy career to remind me what it was going to take to build my next career. Continuous effort has never failed me.

2 Peter 1:5-8, “For this very reason, make every effort to supplement your faith with virtue, and virtue with knowledge, and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with perseverance, and perseverance with godliness, and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love.”
