Perseverance, Steadfastness, and Effort (Continuous)

Continuous effort - not strength or intelligence - is the key to unlocking our potential.

— Winston Churchill —

A few years ago I was talking with a business colleague who successfully built a billion-dollar business from the ground up.

I asked him to tell me in one word, the secret to his success and he said, “Perseverance–I never gave up.”

Definition of perseverance –

  1. :  continued effort to do or achieve something despite difficulties, failure, or opposition:  the action or condition or an instance of persevering: steadfastness.

I believe continued effort despite difficulties, failure, or opposition (perseverance-steadfastness) has created more success stories than any other human attribute.

It’s the reason my license plate says “EFFORT.”

I got my vanity plate ten years ago when I moved on from my pharmacy career to remind me of what it was going to take to build my next career.

Perseverance, steadfastness, and continuous effort despite difficulties is engrained in the American spirit and is why I am confident we will rebound in an unbelievably positive way when we get COVID-19 figured out.

And we will get COVID-19 figured out because of the American spirit of perseverance, steadfastness, and continuous effort.

And it’s no coincidence that the American spirit was built upon a foundation of rock-solid principles given to us from God.

Romans 5:3-4, “More than that, we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope,”
