Perseverance – Day 1 – Walls

The brick walls are there for a reason...to show how badly we want something.

DSC_7991For the next 40 days my blogs will be focused on perseverance.  I know so many people right now who are battling health and life issues. My goal is to spread some hope and courage over the next 40 days.

Some of you may have heard of Randy Pausch. He wrote the New York Times best seller, “The Last Lecture.”  If you haven’t read it, I suggest you do.  It will not disappoint.

Although I attributed the opening quote to Pausch what he actually said was this:

The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out. The brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. Because the brick walls are there to stop the people who don’t want it badly enough.  They’re there to stop the other people.

How many times do we give up the minute we face any type of resistance, let alone brick walls?

What walls do you feel like you are up against?

What struggles are causing you to want to “throw in the towel?”

I have found the best tool I can use when facing a brick wall is God. When I seek Him, when facing a “wall,” He often shows me ways to overcome it I would have never thought of myself.

Isaiah 40:31, But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength.  They will soar high on wings like eagles.  They will run and not grow weary.  They will walk and not faint.

God is a wall crusher…I write from experience.
